Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), a unique institution devoted to the research, teaching and application of statistics, natural sciences and social sciences was founded by Professor P.C. Mahalanobis in Kolkata on 17th December, 1931, the institute gained the status of an Institution of National Importance by an act of the Indian Parliament in 1959.
CALL FOR PAPERS
The Sampling and Official Statistics Unit, Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), Kolkata will organize the 7th West Bengal Growth Conference on 26-27 December, 2017. This year’s Conference will be organized as a part of the 125th Birthday Celebration of Professor Prasanta Chandra Mahalanobis, the founder of ISI.
Papers (including theoretical projects) are invited on topics relevant for the growth and development of West Bengal. A synopsis (about three pages) should be submitted electronically to the address provided below.
The synopses will be reviewed by a committee and short listed. The selected authors will be subsequently requested for the full paper as per the schedule given at the bottom. Young researchers are expected to benefit from dissemination of ideas and interaction with policymakers and distinguished academicians located in India and abroad.
Local hospitality (including board and lodging) and travel cost (following standard eligibility rules will be provided subject to availability of funds). A few senior economists will also be invited to present their on-going research work in the workshop.
