The Indian Association for Child and Adolescent Mental Health (IACAM) conceived in 1988 and born in 1990 is the realization of long cherished dream of those mental health professionals who have shown greater commitment to the mental health problems of children and adolescents over long years.
The idea of floating an association of child mental health professionals originated in 1988 on the occasion of “National Workshop on Child Mental Health: Needs and Priorities”. Considerable amount of support was mobilized and it was finally possible to prepare a memorandum introduced formally at first National Conference of Child and Adolescent Mental Health in Pune on Nov. 3-4, 1990.
The 14th Biennial National Conference of the Indian Association for Child and Adolescent Mental Health (IACAM) to be held in Kolkata, the city which is known for its quintessential flavor and fondly called as City of Joy, from 10th November to 12th November 2017 at Swabhumi, The Heritage Plaza, Kolkata.
In the field of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry this is the most important academic activity in India pursued once in two years.
Awards for Paper:
- Poona Psychiatrists Association Oration Award
This award will be given to an eminent professional for his/her overall contribution to the care and treatment of children and adolescent with mental health problems.
- The J. C. Marfatia Award (Best Paper)
This award is for the best unpublished paper presented at the conference of the IACAM.
The study should have been carried out within two years of the time of presentation i.e. it should be based on a recent research.
- The Luke Clack Award (Young Scientist)
The Award is for the best unpublished paper presented at the conference of the IACAM on
original research in infant, child and adolescent psychiatry done in India.
- The Niloufer Award (Best paper on therapeutic interventions)
This Award is for the best unpublished paper on therapeutic interventions presented at the
Conference of the IACAM. The contesting paper should be based on the work done in India during the five years preceding the year of the conference.
