Established at the prestigious St. Stephen’s College in 1960 at the behest of the first Prime Minister of the country, Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru, The Planning Forum is one of the largest student-run bodies.
The Forum host a wide variety of events around the year which include talks and lectures by eminent personalities, research paper presentations, workshops, case competitions on relevant policy concepts and finally our flagship event, the St. Stephen’s Model United Nations Conference which is to be held on a virtual platform on 26th, 27th & 28th February 2021.
SMUN’21 provides 400+ delegates from across India with an opportunity to expand their knowledge of international institutions and provide them with skills, knowledge, and the ability to take necessary action to defeat the global crisis especially considering the multitude of challenges the past year alone has brought with it.
About the Committees
The United Nations Economic and Social Council (UN ECOSOC) is one of the six principal organs of the United Nations, responsible for coordinating the economic and social work of the organisation.
It serves as the central forum for discussing international socio-economic issues and formulating policy recommendations addressed to member states and the United Nations system alike. This committee establishes its work around an annual theme of global importance and sustainable development. ECOSOC brings together people and issues to promote collective action for a better, more sustainable world.
