The workshop, which will take place on July 23 & 24, aims to disseminate fundamental knowledge on the handling and care of animals used for experimental purpose.
It will embed vital and analytical approach towards the scientific knowledge on laboratory animal use and improve the equality of research in animal handling.
It comprises lectures on the design of experiments, visit our animal house facility and hands-on practical sessions.
- Introduction to laboratory animal and its environment.
- Preparation of experimental protocol for animal models.
- Preparation of proposal for ethical clearance. Model of a proposal of ethical approval. Pre and post-operative care of handling and restraining animals.
- Modes of administration of drugs and collection of body fluid from animals.
Preferably participants from the post-final year B.Tech Biotechnology/ Chemical Engineering/ Food Technology, those who opted for higher studies.
However, placed students are not eligible for the workshop and are to give a chance to other students.
The number of entries is restricted to 25 only. Registration is on a first-come-first-served basis.
The workshop is intended to conduct a minimal fee of Rs. 400 per student. This includes workshop kit, lunch, refreshment and certificate.
The participants are informed to arrange their accommodation themselves.
If necessary, accommodation may be arranged at Girls and Boys hostel in our college premises at Rs. 250 per day.
