AICTE offers amazing 9 AICTE student development schemes. There are many scholarships, fellowships and awards opportunities that will make every student achieve their dreams. 9 AICTE Student Development Schemes

1. AICTE – Swanath Scholarship Scheme

The Scheme is being implemented by AICTE to provide encouragement and support to orphans, children whose parents died due to Covid 19, wards of Armed Forces and Central Paramilitary Forces martyred in action (Shaheed). This is an attempt to give every these children an opportunity to study further and prepare for a successful future through education in AICTE Approved institutions and courses.

  • Eligibility:
    • The candidate should be from any one of the following categories: (i) Orphan (ii) Either one or both parents died due to Covid-19 (iii) Wards of Armed Forces and Central Paramilitary Forces martyred in action (Shaheed)
    • Family income from all sources should not be more than Rs. 8 Lakh per annum during the financial year of the application. A valid income certificate issued by State/UT Government is to be enclosed.
    • The candidate should be currently studying in the AICTE Approved institutions and courses at Degree/ Diploma level in regular mode.
  • Number of Scholarships: A maximum of 2000 scholarships (1000 for Degree Students and 1000 for Diploma Students) will be awarded every year to eligible candidates as above.
  • Amount: Rs. 50,000/- per annum for every year of study. Maximum 4 years (for first year admitted Degree students) and maximum 3 years (for Diploma Students) as lump sum amount, towards payment of college fee, purchase of computer, stationeries, books, equipment, software etc.
  • Application: The candidate fulfilling the eligibility conditions is required to apply online on National Scholarship Portal (NSP) after initiation of application process and notice to be published on AICTE/ NSP website.

2. AICTE – Youth Undertaking Visit for Acquiring Knowledge (YUVAK)

The scheme is intended for providing a financial grant for conducting a study tour of the Atal Tunnel by students/ faculty of AICTE approved Institutions in the field of technical education.

  • Eligibility:
    • AICTE approved institutions, in the field of technical education, having latest NIRF ranking between 001 to 500 are eligible for the grant.
    • Team of 10 Students + 1 Faculty member, from each eligible Institute.
    • Students should be from regular 2nd & 3rd year B.E./B.Tech. and/ or Integrated M. Tech. students of Civil, Mechanical & Structural Engineering disciplines.
    • Selected students of the team should have minimum CGPA of 8.5 in the previous semester.
  • Duration: The study tour will be for a period of 3 days excluding journey period from the Institute to Manali & back. Grant will be for a maximum of 25 Institutions from NRO & NWRO Regions and 75 Institutions from remaining Regions in a financial year.
  • Grant Disbursement: 50% of the total Grant will be paid to the Institution on receipt of finalized itinerary & schedule of the study tour.

3. AICTE Lilavati Award

This award intends to recognize efforts being made by AICTE approved institutions to treat women with ‘equality and fairness’ in all spheres of their lives.

Through this initiative, all the stakeholders (especially the girl students) in AICTE approved institutions would get a unique opportunity to present a solution to the prevalent issues of gender discrimination, such as illiteracy, unemployment, economic and nutritional disparities, maternal mortality, human rights, etc. Also, if anyone has already made a successful effort towards making a mark in the society, in establishing women’s emancipation/ empowerment at large, she/ he can showcase their efforts/ contributions.

  • Eligibility: For AICTEs Lilavati Award-2020, entries are invited under the category Institutional/ Team Level comprising students/ faculty/ both from AICTE approved technical institution / Deemed to be University. These applications must have undertaken remarkable intervention in the various sub-themes and made an impact in the society. The team has to showcase their work in the last two years from the date of announcement of the award for the cause of women empowerment. The maximum team size will be 5 members having atleast 2 (two) women members.
  • Target Sub themes: Women Health, Self Defence, Sanitation & Hygiene, Literacy, Women Entrepreneurship and Legal Awareness.
  • Prizes/ Awards: The award in the form of prize money will be given to the 18 winning team (three under each sub-themes) as follows: Winner: Rs. 1,00,000/-, First Runner-up: Rs. 75,000/- and Second Runner-up: Rs. 50,000/-.

4. AICTE PG Scholarship

AICTE, in order to ensure the development of technical education in India, awards scholarships to students admitted in AICTE approved postgraduate programs.

  • Eligibility: Post Graduate Scholarship is entitled only to the students fulfilling crietria below.
    • Having a valid GATE/ GPAT score at the time of admission.
    • Must be admitted as a full-time scholar.
    • Students of final years of dual degree integrated programmes would also be entitled to PG Scholarship from the 9th semester onwards in case they get a CGPA score of 8 or above (on a scale of 10 ) i.e. only for one year in final year.
  • Amount of Scholarship: The Scholarship is Rs. 12,400/- per month per student.
  • Duration: The Scholarship is tenable for 24 months or for the duration of the course (i.e. from the date of commencement of classes till the date of completion of the classes) whichever is lower, and it is not extendable under any circumstances.

5. AICTE Doctoral Fellowship (ADF)

Admitting full-time meritorious research scholars by providing research fellowship who wants to seek admission to Ph.D. in AICTE approved Technical Institutes/University Departments for carrying out research in thrust areas. The objectives of the ADF scheme are: To promote research culture in AICTE approved Institutions. To promote collaborative research between Institute and Industries leading to start-ups. To nurture talents for technical research.

  • Thrust Areas: Some of the broad thrust areas (but not limited) for the research are as follows:- Green Technologies, Big Data, Machine Learning & Data Sciences, Block Chain, Artificial Intelligence, Energy Production and Storage, Electronics & Photonics, Nuclear Engineering and Allied Technologies, Robotics and Mechatronics, Augmented Reality (AR)/ Virtual Reality (VR), Energy Efficiency, Renewable and sustainable Energy, Electric and Hybrid Mobility, Smart Cities, Housing and Transportation, Internet of Things (IoT), 3D Printing, Quantum Computing, Smart Technologies for Agriculture and Food Industry, Water purification, conservation and management, Public Policy, Social & Organizational Psychology & Behaviour, Cyber Security.
  • Eligibility: The fellowship/ HRA/ contingency will be granted to research scholars admitted in the technical universities in the identified thrust areas of the scheme. The candidate must have secured minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 7.5 on the scale of 10 (or minimum 75% marks) or equivalent at both Bachelors and Masters. In addition to above, the candidate should have qualified GATE/ NET during the last 5 years. For SC/ ST/ PH candidates, CGPA requirement will be 7.0 on the scale of 10 (or 70% marks) or equivalent.
  • Duration: The duration of the scheme shall be for a period of 3 years. Normally, no further extension will be granted. In exceptional cases the duration is extendable by 1 year as a special case on the recommendation of Technical University/ University/ Institute in the prescribed format duly filled in and signed for consideration of extension of fellowship beyond 3 years as per Annexure-B.
  • Amount: The fellowship will be Rs. 31,000/- per month for the first two years followed by Rs. 35,000/- per month for the third year. HRA will be provided at the rate of 8%, 16% and 24% as per the Government of India (GoI) norms as applicable in the city/ location where the Research Fellow is pursuing their research. They must not be provided any hostel accommodation in the institute.
  • Number of Scholarship: Maximum of 339 fellowships may be granted in a year.

6. Pragati Scholarship for Girl Student

Scholarship/Contingency is awarded to meritorious girls taking admission in AICTE approved Technical institution at Degree/ Diploma.

This scheme is being implemented by AICTE for the advancement of girls pursuing technical education. Education is one of the most important means of empowering women. This is an attempt to give young women the opportunity to further her education and prepare for a successful future by “Empowering Women through Technical Education”.

  • Eligiblity:
    • The girl candidate should be admitted to the first year of degree level course OR second year of degree level course through lateral entry in any of the AICTE approved Institution of respective year.
    • Maximum two girl child per family are eligible.
    • Family income from all sources should not be more than Rs. 8 lakh per annum during the current financial year. A valid income certificate issued by State/ UT Government need to be enclosed.
  • Number of Scholarship: A total of 5,000 scholarships are earmarked per annum under this scheme.
  • Amount: Rs. 50,000/- per annum for every year of study i.e. maximum 4 years (for first year admitted students) and 3 years (for second year admitted students) through lateral entry as lump sum amount towards payment of college fee, purchase of computer, stationeries, books, equipments, softwares etc. No other additional grant will be payable in lieu of hostel charges and medical charges etc.
  • Application: The candidate fulfilling the eligibility conditions is required to apply online on National Scholarship Portal (NSP) after initiation of application process and notice to be published on AICTE website.

7. Saksham Scholarship for Differently-abled Students

Scholarship/Contingency is awarded to Differently abled students taking admission in AICTE approved technical institutions for a Degree/ Diploma. 

Saksham is an MHRD scheme aimed at providing encouragement and support to specially-abled children to pursue technical education. This is an attempt to give every young student, who is otherwise specially-abled, the opportunity to study further and prepare for a successful future through technical education/ knowledge.

  • Eligibility:
    • The candidate should be admitted to the first year of a degree level course OR second year of degree level course through lateral entry in any of the AICTE approved institution of respective year.
    • Specially-abled student, having disability of not less than 40%.
    • Family income from all sources should not be more than Rs. 8 lakh per annum during the current financial year. A valid income certificate issued by State /UT Government need to be enclosed.
  • Number of Scholarship: All eligible specially-abled student will get the scholarship.
  • Amount: Rs. 50,000/- per annum for every year of study i.e. maximum 4 years (for first year admitted students) and 3 years (for second year admitted students through lateral entry) as lump sum amount towards payment of college fee, purchase of computer, stationeries, books, equipments, softwares etc. No other additional grant will be payable in lieu of hostel charges and medical charges etc.
  • Application: The candidate fulfilling the eligibility conditions is required to apply online on National Scholarship Portal (NSP) after initiation of application process and notice to be published on AICTE website.

8. Support to Students for Participating in Competition Abroad

The objective of the scheme is to provide travel assistance registration fees to a team of 2 (min) to 10 (max) students for attending competitions at the international level. This would encourage engineering students to improve in their field of technical education.

  • Eligibility: Team of students (2 to 10) in the field of technical education must be enrolled and undergoing a technical course notified by the Council in a AICTE approved technical institutions. Students from B.E./B.Tech/Integrated M. Tech, or 1st and 2nd year students of M.E./M.Tech are eligible. The team must have an invitation for an international scientific event and must have won the top honour at national level.
  • Application: The application should be sent to AICTE New Delhi. The necessary enclosures such as, acceptance letter from the organizers of competition and the full details of the competition proposed to be presented shall be submitted at least two months prior to the commencement of the event.
  • Financial Support: Scheme will provide assistance of Rs. 1.00 lakh inclusive of all related expenses, to the eligible students as per the scheme without putting any barrier on the heads of expenditure.
    • Air Fare. Actual fare not exceeding AC III Class train fare will be admissible for travel from the technical institutions approved by the Council to the nearest airport and back.
    • Registration and Visa Charges
    • Total Expenditure restricted to Rs. 1 lakh per Candidate not exceeding Rs. 10 lakhs for 10 students.
    • Lodging & boarding.

9. AICTE-INAE Travel Grant Scheme

The “AICTE-INAE Travel Grant Scheme” for Engineering Students from AICTE approved engineering colleges/institutions has been launched for enhancing the quality of engineering education in the country. Under this, students can present papers abroad.

The objective of the scheme is to provide partial travel assistance and registration fees to Bachelors and Masters Level engineering students for presenting a research paper in an international scientific event (conference/seminar/symposium/workshop/exhibition etc). The proposal(s) will be evaluated by subject experts.

  • Eligibility:
    • Pre-final and final year students of B.E./B.Tech or Integrated M.Tech and first and second year students of M.E./M.Tech from AICTE approved engineering institutions are eligible under the scheme.
    • Students pursuing MS Research, M.Sc. in Engineering, dual degree in B.Tech and M.Tech or any degree with minimum 4 years of engineering studies.
    • Students with minimum 7 CGPA or 65 Percentage and above are eligible to apply under this scheme.
  • Financial Support: The maximum financial support per student for all above reimbursements is limited to Rs. 1 lakh.
  • Application: The application should be sent at least eight weeks prior to the date of presentation of the research paper through email at inaehq@inae.in.
