The Rhodes Scholarships India Programme 2022 at University of Oxford, UK [5 Positions]: Apply by Aug 2

The Rhodes Scholarship programme is the oldest (established 1903) international scholarship programme in the world, and one of the most prestigious. Administered by the Rhodes Trust in Oxford, the programme offers 100 fully-funded Scholarships each year for postgraduate study at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom – one of the world’s leading universities.

  • No.of Scholarships: Each year, there are five Scholarships available for India. The first Indian Rhodes Scholars took up residence in Oxford in 1947, and since that time over two hundred Indians have been awarded the Scholarship.
  • Eligibility:
    • Citizenship: You must be a citizen of India, holding an Indian passport, or equivalent proof of citizenship; PIO or OCI cardholders do not satisfy the Indian citizenship criteria for this purpose.
    • Education/Residency: You must have undertaken formal study at an educational institution in India for a minimum of 4 of the last 10 years, and have either (i) completed a school-leaving exam (10th or 12th standard or equivalent) at a school in India, or (ii) have received, or be in the final year of, an undergraduate degree at a university in India.

Call for Entries: Ebbe Nielsen Challenge 2021 [Prizes Worth Rs. 17 L]: Submit by Aug 2

The 2021 Ebbe Nielsen Challenge has opened with the aim of recognizing innovative entries that leverage biodiversity data and tools from the GBIF network to advance open science. An expert jury will judge entries on their openness and repeatability, relevance and novelty and present a selected pool of winners with a total of up to €20,000 in prizes.

  • Eligiblity: The Challenge is open to individuals, teams of individuals, companies and their employees, and governmental agencies and their employees.

Call for Nominations: CAIRD Award 2020 by CSIR [Prize of Rs. 10 Lakh]: Submit by Aug 5

The Award will recognize those outstanding S&T innovations that have helped transform the lives of the rural people or alleviated the drudgery of the rural people or have helped in generation of employment. Successful S&T innovations that are implemented at the ground level thus will be considered.

The innovation applied for, should simultaneously have also broaden interactions among academic, R&D and rural financial institutions, industry and commercial sectors, and rural people and provide newer vehicles for participatory development.

  • Eligibility: Any India Team, or an organization, or a company registered in India will be eligible to apply.
  • Application: The application for the Award could be made in response to the Advertisement issued by CSIR which will also be available at CSIR website.
  • Prize: This annual award consists of a prize of Rs. 10 Lakh, a citation and a plaque.

M.Tech Admission 2021-23 at NIELIT Calicut: Apply by Aug 5

Following two M Tech programs are offered at NIELIT Calicut approved by AICTE and affiliated to APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University, Kerala:

  • Embedded Systems 
  • Electronics Design Technology

Above M.Tech programs are of two years duration having four semesters. These courses focus on practical design aspects of Embedded Systems and Electronic Product Design and are intended for students who wish to work in the Industry as Design Engineers. The core and elective papers are practical oriented. This program is also suitable for those aspiring to research or take teaching as a profession in these areas.

  • Eligibility:
    • The candidate shall be an Indian National.
    • The candidate should have passed the B.Tech course or equivalent from an institution approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
    • Candidates should have a minimum of 60% aggregate marks in the engineering degree examination. For SC/ST candidates, a pass in the engineering degree course is sufficient. For SEBC/PWD candidates, a minimum of 54% (aggregate) marks in the Engineering Degree examination is mandatory.
    • Admission shall normally be restricted to those candidates who have a valid GATE Score.
    • The eligible branches of engineering for each M.Tech are given under the respective program.

ONGC Scholarship to Meritorious Students 2021 for SC/ST/OBC/General Category [2,000 Scholarships; ₹48k/Year]: Apply by Aug 6

ONGC is offering 2,000 scholarships worth ₹48,000 per annum to meritorious SC/ST/OBC/General Students for pursuing professional courses in Engineering, MBBS, MBA, Geology and Geophysics. The selection for scholarship shall be on relative merit. 50% of the scholarships are reserved for girls.

  • Eligibility: Candidate should be a student of 1st year of Graduate Engineering or MBBS courses or 1st year of Master’s degree in Geology/Geophysics or MBA. UNESCO and Takhte Pan India Online Essay Contest 2021: Apply by Aug 6

As a platform for critical thinking and writing, Takhte and UNESCO are launching the third edition of the Pan India Online Essay Contest 2021,  called ‘Year 2 AC – After Coronavirus: A Future Imagined by Youth’.

For this year’s edition, the contest will be launched on 7 June 2021 and remain open for two months. As in the past, entries will be received on a rolling basis, and UNESCO and Takhte will each week select the best two entries from the different categories, which be published weekly on their websites and social media. Later in the year, the 100 winning essays will then be published as a book.

  • Eligibility: It focuses on children (aged 11–14 years) and youth (aged 15–24 years). The aim is for them to reflect on our current challenges and tell us how they envision a more resilient and better future for all.

Ph.D. (Integrated) Program in Biotechnology at RCB, Faridabad: Apply by Aug 7

The Regional Centre for Biotechnology (RCB), Faridabad invites applications for the Ph.D. (Integrated) Program in Biotechnology 2021.

The PhD (Integrated) Programme (MSc-PhD Programme in Biotechnology) is offered to students with a graduate degree in any discipline of Science, Engineering or Medicine. The programme in its first year (1st and 2nd semester) provides extensive learning opportunities in the broad field of life sciences and biotechnology through rigorous classroom teaching and hands-on laboratory experiments.

  • Eligibility:
    • Students with 60% aggregate marks (or an equivalent grade point average) in Bachelor’s degree in any branch of Science, Engineering, or Medicine are eligible to apply for admission.
    • Students from the SC, ST, OBC (non-creamy layer), and PWD categories shall be given a relaxation of 5% aggregate marks.
    • Students in the final year of their qualifying degree programme are also eligible to apply provided that they produce proof of having secured the required marks in their undergraduate degree programme at the time of admission to the PhD (Integrated) Programme in Biotechnology.
    • Eligible students are required to appear for the Graduate Aptitude Test-Biotechnology (GAT-B).
  • Fellowship: The Indian and Foreign students admitted to the program shall receive the RCB /Ramachandran-DBT fellowship of Rs. 16000 per month for the first 2 years of the program, after which an Indian student is required to qualify for the junior/senior research fellowships offered by CSIR, ICMR, DBT, or other funding agencies.

UN-FAO Fellows Program 2021: Apply by Aug 8

Applications are now invited for the UN-FAO Fellows Program 2021. The Fellows Programme is designed to attract fellows, typically Ph.D. students, researchers, and professors, who have an advanced level of relevant technical knowledge and experience in any field of the Organization. They are willing to fulfill their specialized learning objectives and at the same time, contribute their technical expertise and knowledge through time-bound arrangements with FAO.

  • Eligibility: Graduate or post-graduate degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) or be enrolled in a Ph.D. program in a bona fide (i.e. listed in IAU/ UNESCO database) educational institution at the time of the application.
