The WTO Secretariat maintains internship activities for post-graduate students aspiring to gain practical knowledge and experience of the multilateral trading system. Assignments that will be given to interns will enhance their knowledge and understanding the WTO trade policy.
Internships are generally for a duration of 24 weeks but it also depends on the length of the internship and depending on the project the interns are requested to work on. Internship can start at any time of the year.
Paid interns will receive a daily allowance of CHF 60 which includes weekends and holidays that will fall within this period. Internship take place in Geneva, Switzerland only. Travel expended will not be covered by the Organization’s insurance.
- Interns are taken from and among WTO member states.
- Interns must have completed studies in a relevant field like economics, law, political science, international relations), and shall have completed at least one year of their postgraduate studies.
- The minimum age for internship is 21 years and the maximum is 30 years.
- A roster of suitable candidates is maintained from which interns are selected. Need may arise to appoint interns on short notice and these recruits will be drawn from rooster.
